Motionless in White Close Out a Two-Year Build With Decades

Motionless in White's seventh album is out. Decades landed July 17 via Roadrunner Records, produced by Drew Fulk and Justin DeBlieck, and pieced together across two years of recording, from 2024 through this summer. The record arrives on the band's twentieth anniversary, and its rollout leaned on two singles that each raised the stakes rather than lowered them: "Afraid of the Dark" arrived in January and became the band's first-ever number one on Billboard's Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, and "Playing God" followed in May with a guest verse from Corey Taylor of Slipknot — the kind of feature that only comes once a band has spent two decades proving it isn't going anywhere. Fourteen tracks and just under 54 minutes, Decades also pulls in Skylar Grey and Dark Divine's Anthony Martinez elsewhere on the tracklist. Neither advance single gave away how the record would land as a whole. Now it has. Twenty years into a band built on outlasting metalcore's churn of trend cycles, Decades is less a reinvention than a statement that they're still standing at all.
